Runner's Starter Kit Part 1: Gear

  • Shoes

    * Get a gait analysis: they tell you what to look for in shoes and where you may have

imbalances. Most local running stores or Dicks Sporting Goods do these.

    * What works for an influencer online may not work for you, if you can, go in and try on shoes.

*Most shoes last between 400-700miles and you should have a rotation of shoes even if they are the same style.

  • Headphones

    • Noise cancelling head phones are a BIG NO for running. Unless you are on a treadmill they are not safe.

    • Wireless blue tooth or bone conduction ones are the ish

  • Hydration Pack

These can be pricey so I would say invest in these if you are getting into trail running or longer distances, otherwise a hand held water bottle or just properly hydrating before and after if your run is not super long

  • Arm Band

I use an arm band off amazon or put my phone in my shorts pocket or hydration pack

Keeping your hands free is helpful for maintaining a normal running gait as well as for safety.

  • Shorts/Leggings

You’ll have to try a few options to see what fits your body best, but I have found Colorfulkoala, found on Amazon, to be my favorite. The shorts are long enough to prevent and chaffing, and the leggings don’t slide down at all while running which I have found other brands do.
